Ecotourism and Repatriation
The village Rincon, a village of approximately 2000 inhabitants, is the oldest village of the Dutch Antilles (established in the 16th century) and where the old culture, tradition and folklore is still tangible. GPC has agreed to help by bringing various interest groups together to establish Rincon as an ecological-/educational tourism location. Magazina di Rei is a museum where tourists can experience and see the culture of Bonaire on many different levels.
Due to a transition at GPC talks on cooperation are being held to reach new agreements with Magazina di Rei as well as Fundashon Ban Boneiru Bèk (in English: Let's Go Back to Bonaire Foundation). The latter invests a great deal of time and effort encouraging and enabling young, well- and/or highly-educated graduates and/or professionals to return to the island, in order to prevent further or permanent brain drain and to help (re)build the island in every possible constructive way.
