MaMs Prosperity Programme

The Prosperity programme "MaMs" was initiated on the island of Curaçao in 2007. MaMs stands in Papiamentu for "MaMa Adolesente MaMa Soltera ku meta nobo" (in English: Teenage and Single mothers with new perspectives). This Prosperity programme concerns the mental, social and financial empowerment of mostly underprivileged adolescent and single mothers in dominantly marginalized circumstances and/or reduced to poverty.

MaMs wants to accomplish this by developing instruments and tools such as training and instruction methods as well as by supporting local initiatives and projects. Also, by organizing debates and discussion groups in order to stimulate different mindset and break the vicious cycle of dependency and persistent poverty.

Furthermore, the objective of this programme is to contribute to the eradication of the ongoing phenomenon of teenage pregnancy on the island(s) within the next three decades. The first phase, the survey of the chain of services provided to this group, was completed in 2008. Currently, we are in the second phase: the implement of the recommendations by regularly sending students to the island(s). Read more.

The MaMs Prosperity programme will, in spite of some of the setbacks, continue to pursue its goals to establish prosperity for the groups concerned!
